Hello world!

February 10, 2009 by: admin

Welcome to the new web home of BEE-CON BOOKS!  This will be the place where you read excerpts, listen to author readings, get updates on author signings and of course, puchase books.  We will have great discussions about writing novels, poetry, screenwriting, publishing, etc..

In the meantime, please bear with us as we work the kinks out of this system and get this show on the road!

Peace and Blessings,

BERNADETTE Y. CONNOR - author, publisher, screenwriter

Just finished the book Pearl and angela…enjoyed it terribly! Enjoyed the characters and their involvement. Got the book from your cousin and need to get back to her , Elizabeth. Any advice for starters and do you publish your own books. Plenty of love. Coffee

    Hey Coffee,
So glad you enjoyed “Pearl And Angela”.

My advice to any writer is to simply write. Stick with what you personally feel is your strongest style and story and press it through to completion. Let some people read it, not just your auntie or your good friends, someone who will be honest. Don’t let them make you change your story, just take the advice that allows you to buff your story to a high shine. My philosophy on writing is, “This is my story and I’m sticking to it.” When you’re ready to approach the publishing world, know that they are turning down published authors because of the economy. Don’t take it personal. Self-publish if you have to. It’s not as difficult to do as some would have you think. The hard part is selling your work. Remember, word-of-mouth moves volumes. If you get ten people who truly love what you’ve done it will begin the movement. Press on.

    Thanks again and God bless!

When I went to visit my girlfriend, she suggested tha I read Damaged. Damaged was a great book that I could not stop reading. It was the first book that I have ever read that made me so emotional. I did some research on purchasing other books from you, but realized that they are not sold in the book stores. Do you have other books that are as deep as Damaged?

    Hi Sheila,

Glad to know you enjoyed Damaged!. The novel most like it of mine is “Pearl And Angela”, but I think you would enjoy any of them. Go to Amazon.com and pick one up! Thanks again!

I have just finished reading “Pearl and Angela” and it was the most extraordinary book I’ve read this year. I like and appreciate your style of writing. The story line was great and you are not a “wordy” author. Although I must admit, when I first started reading I thought “this book is going to be so boring.” However, my curiosity was peaked after reading the first chapter. After that I could not stop until I finished.

I also read “Inherited” which was another great read. You have a unique way of capturing one’s attention and holding it until the story unfolds. It has been suggested that I read “Damaged”. If it is anything like the other two books I read, then I can hardly wait.

I encourage you to keep doing what you’re doing.

    Be Blessed on today!

Thanks for the compliments, Suzette, and I am extremely happy to know that “Pearl And Angela” is still being read and appreciated. There are a few copies of “Damaged!” available on Amazon.com and I’m sure you will enjoy reading it as well.

No, I am not a journalist. Thank you for the compliment.

Hello. I am an inspiring writer, I mainly write poetry although I have been working on an idealism novel on long lasting impressions people leave on the world and a romantic comedy novel as well. I have heard many amazing compliments about your books you have written, especially Damaged. I am trying to find them so I can read them myself. My friends and I have been working on a book for some time now. It is a novel consisting of different styles of poetry which pertains to the style coming from each writer of the book, photography, and art. The theme is about the different styles of art pertaining to a college student. I wasn’t sure if your interests lay in this type of novel. We are struggling looking for publishing companies that would be interested, more because we are trying to find a particular company whom would like the ideas we are presenting in this novel. If you have any recommendations, perhaps it is best to self publish a novel like this and spread by word of mouth. We really are not sure how to go about self-publishing and costs would be very steep we believed. If you have any suggestions, they would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your time, I really appreciate it. I look very forward to reading your books in the future. Much peace.

    -Joe

Hi BERNADETTE, I chose Damaged for my book choice in 2000 and it won book of the year. We really enjoyed the book. I also read inherited and I really enjoyed that one also. I really want to read Angela and Pearl but I have been looking at this book for over an year and it’s still $26.00 on amazon. Is there any where else I could purchase this book because I really can’t afford $26.00 so if’s there a site I can go to please let me know. Also when is SASHA’S NEW BEGINNING coming out?
    Thanks
    Pamela

Hi Pamela, Thanks for keeping my books on your literary wish list. Most likely, the paperback copies of Pearl and Angela will be ready before the end of the summer and the price will be $18.00. Sasha’s New Beginning is ready to go, but there was a problem with the cover that should be cleared up soon. Keep your eyes open for it. I will be sending out a blast when either one drops. Thanks again.

Hi Joe, It’s always a pleasure talking to other writers. However, I am not currently prepared to publish other authors. For the type of project you and your colleagues are working on you should look into self-publishing. It is not as harrowing today as it was a while ago. Amazon.com has a program that is rather unique; they have a staff there willing to answer any questions you might have, and are able to assist with promoting your materials for a reasonable fee. You can even publish a Kindle edition of your work for free to get the feel for publishing and some feedback on the material you want to promote. It’s really very simple to do and they will help you through the process.

As for my books, you can find them on Amazon.com. If writing and publishing is your dream . . . just do it.
